Provided that the hygiene conditions for protection against Corona allow it, an open day at a treatment or research centre is also very suitable for prevention work. Additionally, information booths and lectures, public consultation hours, measurements of risk factors, guided tours through the building, interactive experiments for adults and children, puzzles and competitions have proven successful here. Activities with schoolchildren and sporting events are also popular. A celebrity ambassador for your national activities would significantly boost visibility.
Actions for medical professionals are also important and useful to inform about kidney health and the importance of targeted screenings.
Should the Corona Pandemic only allow limited action, we recommend virtual activities such as webinars about kidneys, their importance, function and preventive measures, as well as reporting on radio and television.
In order not to limit the actions to a single day, the European Kidney Health Awareness Days will last several weeks. In 2022, we will start Easter, on 17th April, and end with the ERA Congress, which will take place from 19th to 22nd May in Paris.
