Kidneys, bones, and stones – managing kidney stones in the presence of CKD-MBD

Kidneys, bones, and stones – managing kidney stones in the presence of CKD-MBD is a CME jointly organised by the CKD-MBD Working Group and the Slovenian Society of Nephrology.

The risk of CKD is increased in people with kidney stones, and the prevalence of kidney stones is higher in people with CKD than in the general population. Nephrolithiasis in patients with CKD is a challenge for the clinical nephrologist as CKD-MBD management may interfere with stone formation. In addition, recent evidence suggests that the risk of fracture is increased in patients with kidney stones in both non-CKD and CKD cohorts.

This CME addresses the specific challenges that the coexistence of kidney stones and CKD-MBD poses to the clinical nephrologist. It combines state-of-the-art lectures with discussions of real patient cases. The course aims to empower clinicians to make wise decisions in the absence of evidence from large randomised controlled trials.
