As the national representative for the Democratic Republic of Congo, I’ve had the chance to participate in several ERA activities — each one has been an incredibly enriching experience. From connecting with peers across Europe to gaining new perspectives on nephrology, the YNP has broadened both my network and my vision for the future of renal care in my country.

Engage and participate in the YNP and ERA activities and comittees. My first interaction with the ERA was applying to be part of the first social media team back in 2019 while I was still a trainee. It was the best decision I made in my (still young) career.

Make the most of all the online resources available from the webinars to ERA Neph-Manual etc. Follow YNP of ERA on social media and don’t be afraid to get involved, there are so many amazing opportunities!

YNP ERA inspired us and a platform of young nephrologists has already been established in Slovakia. For the first time ever, we are also part of YNP ERA. Any free time ? take your shoes and let’s go for a run.

I study, think, and work according to the rules of Western, evidence-based medicine, but I work within the post-Soviet medical healthcare model. The latter, of course, is gradually giving way to the former.

Through YNP I met some fantastic colleagues from other countries, YNP has also given me great career opportunities and opened my horizon and view on nephrology through discussions on various topics. Most of all, it is a lot of fun to meet up with colleagues who have the same enthusiasm about nephrology and learn from them.

Get involved! If able to attend Congress, go to the Meet & Greet and engage with other YNP members at the Congress generally. I’ve benefited greatly from collaborations that have come out of meeting others at Congress.
