The ERA short-term fellowship programme is an excellent opportunity for young nephrologists to broaden their knowledge and gain hands-on experience in leading European centres. It not only allows for professional development in a highly specialized field but also facilitates networking and the exchange of ideas with experts from different countries. For me, it was a very inspiring experience that enriched my clinical perspectives.

Including it in a CV highlights international experience, adaptability, and exposure to advanced practices, all of which are valuable in both academic and clinical careers.

After returning from the training, I have actively begun integrating the knowledge and skills I acquired into my clinical practice at my home institution.
I have also worked closely with the dialysis unit to refine both peritoneal and haemodialysis techniques, adapting them more precisely to the individual needs of children.
I am deeply grateful to the entire paediatric nephrology team at GOSH for their professionalism and willingness to share their expertise. In particular, I would like to sincerely thank Professor Rukshana Shroff and Professor Jelena Stojanović for their exceptional mentorship and support, which provided me with a valuable and inspiring learning experience.

I have learned how to treat several drugs used in the UK to treat CKD, which are currently unavailable in Poland. Gaining insight into their pharmacological profiles and clinical applications has highlighted their potential value in improving the management of CKD. It may be worthwhile to consider efforts to make these treatments accessible within the Polish healthcare system.
During the training, I was introduced to the concept and practical aspects of home haemodialysis in paediatric patients — a modality not yet available in Poland. I believe that with proper organizational and technical support, this approach could be gradually introduced, offering selected patients greater flexibility and an improved quality of life.
Regarding paediatric kidney transplantation, I observed that the induction immunosuppressive protocols used at GOSH differ from those commonly applied in Poland. Based on their clinical effectiveness and safety profile, it may be worthwhile to consider adapting similar strategies in our local practice to improve graft outcomes and reduce rejection complications.
