Eva’s story

My involvement with the Young Nephrologists' Platform (YNP) began during the 2022 ERA Congress in Paris, which was my first in-person participation following the COVID-19 pandemic. I attended the YNP Meet and Greet event and had the opportunity to witness how dynamic and vibrant the ERA community is for young professionals. I was particularly inspired by the strong sense of community and the contributions of young ERA members I met there. Motivated by this experience, I applied for the National Representative role with the goal of fostering that same energy and perspective in Greece. I firmly believe in promoting cross-border collaboration, advancing educational equity, and amplifying young voices in nephrology.

My responsibilities as the YNP National Representative in Greece include sharing information and opportunities provided by YNP across the national nephrology network. I actively contribute to YNP initiatives, such as promoting surveys for ongoing projects and supporting the translation of key documents, such as clinical guidelines and awareness campaigns, into Greek. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Hellenic Society of Nephrology for their support of these initiatives. Finally, a key personal priority is to foster a sense of inclusion and open dialogue among young nephrologists in my country.

The most meaningful reward has been the sense of connection with peers across Europe who share the same challenges, hopes, and goals. It’s incredibly empowering to feel part of a community that uplifts one another and encourages collaboration. It has also strengthened my belief that an even brighter future is possible when young professionals unite with courage and a shared vision.

Being the YNP National Representative in Greece has significantly contributed to my professional growth. It has expanded my professional network beyond national borders and given me the confidence to pursue new academic opportunities, such as applying for ERA fellowships and engaging more actively in scientific work. In particular, I recently completed my research fellowship at the ERA Registry, which deepened my understanding of collaborative research and highlighted the importance of translating large-scale epidemiologic data into clinical messages. My ongoing editorial fellowship with the Clinical Kidney Journal is also proving to be a valuable experience, further strengthening my skills in peer review and scientific communication. Above all, being the YNP National Representative in Greece has reinforced my commitment to continuous growth, as a clinician, as a researcher, and as a member of a wider community working towards meaningful progress in nephrology.
