Arunkumar’s story

I got involved with YNP because I was active in nephrology education and social media outreach. I took part in ERA activities on a regular basis, and over time I got to know my peers better, which helped me get nominated as the Indian National Representative.

I connect ERA YNP with young nephrologists in India by sharing news on ERA events, encouraging them to attend them, and promoting opportunities to learn and work together. With help from the Indian Society of Nephrology, we were able to get a lot more Indian nephrologists to join ERA and take part in its activities over the past two years.

This role has given me the chance to meet a wide range of young nephrologists from all over the world who are inspiring. Being part of an international network of early-career professionals who are all working toward the same goals has been rewarding and has also provided me opportunities for collaborative research.

The experience has helped me become a better leader and communicator, and it has also given me a wider view of nephrology training outside of my own country. It has also helped build collaborations and opened up academic opportunities.
