The ERA Fellowship programme offers is an amazing opportunity for Early Career Clinicians and Researchers to obtain support, both administrative and financial, for short- or long-term stays at foreign research institutions.

I would certainly encourage future recipients of an ERA fellowship to include it on their CV. It shows initiative and drive to have completed a clinical or academic stay at a foreign research institution – including the important part of obtaining support by applying to a fellowship program.

The ERA fellowship enabled me to stay for 12 months at a renowned European research institution, performing data analyses on a large and unique dataset with one of the leading experts in my field. The project connected to the ERA fellowship included a position as an Early Career Investigator in an established international group of researchers – expanding my professional network considerably. The connection to the ERA opened up many opportunities as well, including being asked to contribute as a YNP representative to a session at the ERA Congress.

The ERA fellowship allowed me to collaborate with one of the foremost experts in my field, which was an amazing learning experience, in addition to being very productive, resulting in a number of joint publications. Through my position as an Early Career Investigator in an international network, I gained hands-on experience with planning and executing educational activities, international workshops and conferences, and collaborative research projects. The network that I gained as part of the ERA fellowship is still growing, and I continue to collaborate with prominent researchers that I met through my participation in the ERA Fellowship programme.
