Post-Congress Highlights

ERA encourages third parties (not-for-profit) to use the materials of the ERA Annual Congress to prepare special Highlight Sessions to be held after the ERA Congress.

A specific procedure must be followed to protect both the reputation of the Society as well as the copyright of the authors.

The Renal Run

The ERA Renal Run took place on June 4, 2026 in Glasgow, bringing the spirit of “Challenge Your Thinking” beyond the lecture halls and into action. More than a morning run, it is an opportunity to rethink how we connect science, community and wellbeing — and to turn awareness into tangible support.

Participation included a £10 registration fee, with each runner receiving a drawstring bag containing a snack, a bottle of water and an information brochure on the day. All registration fees were donated to the Nephrology Unit of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital, directly supporting young patients and their families.

Further information

Participants could also make voluntary donations during registration and on site, and purchase an optional running shirt (£20), with proceeds going to the same cause — proving that sometimes challenging your thinking starts with taking a single step.

Kidney & Bee Adventure – ERA Legacy Project

As part of ERA’s commitment to leaving a positive legacy in the host city, the Kidney & Bee Adventure project engaged local schoolchildren in learning about kidney health and science in a creative and interactive way.

Led by Local Congress President Kate Stevens and supported by volunteers from Glasgow, the initiative involves around 150 children aged 8–10 from Maidenhill Primary School in a series of workshops, with interactive sessions delivered over four consecutive weeks and a final visit to the museum at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

During the final workshop, children completed a fun worksheet to assess their knowledge and were asked to create artwork to be displayed and voted on at the ERA Congress. The winning piece will be featured as the cover image of NDT.

Be social at #ERA26

ERA invites all delegates and participants of the 63rd Congress to spark inspiration by tweeting and sharing posts about the Congress and its scientific presentations.

Follow ERA on Social Media and read all the official information about the 63rd ERA Congress. Use the official hashtag of the 63rd ERA Congress: #ERA26

Here are a few guidelines to keep the inspiration flowing:

  1. We ask that comments and replies to the tweets and posts of @ERAKidney as well as those engaging with the conference are respectful towards the other participants.
  2. Pictures and videos shared at the ERA Congress can be generally taken during scientific presentations, for personal use only, and can then be used on social media. This is provided the speaker or presenter has not indicated that they do not wish for their content to be shared as indicated below. The commercial use of pictures and videos taken during the annual ERA Congress is NOT allowed.
  3. No content from the ERA Congress that could in any way identify a patient should be presented or shared on social media.
